After my Cuisinart piece of junk, I was THRILLED with my purchase. I have owned a Breville juice fountain before, and was thrilled with the quality. I assumed a Breville blender would be awesome, and I was SO right.
I love the "smoothie" setting, which is a 60-second (there's a digital timer) that blends, pulses and blends some more. My kids are smoothie nuts, so I'm well versed in the problems of making smoothie.
This blender has a unique design at the bottom of the jar-- well rounded and spacious, with a wide blade that sweeps all the frozen chunks up into a nice turbulence that made quick work of our smoothie.
Breville is seriously worth the money. I've spent probably $400 on blenders in the past 10 years and I am totally sure that my "expensive" blender will save me $250 over the next 10 years.
The lid is beautifully crafted and oh-so easy to use (which is a notorious gripe of mine with other blenders), the pour is well controlled, not all over the place, and there are no unwanted drips or chunks or grumbles from the Smoothie Mama.
